The Substance-Free Residential Learning Community (RLC) provides new and returning students with an enjoyable living and learning experience where community members commit to living a Substance-Free lifestyle.
Substance-Free Residential Learning Community
Students who reside in the Substance-Free RLC may participate in a variety of social events including movie and game nights, study breaks, and tie-dying to name a few.
Other program topics include healthy eating, living a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, leadership opportunities, and civic engagement. As a community member, you will be invited by your Resident Assistant (RA) to take an active role in helping to shape the community through regular participation and by helping to plan community events.
A Substance-Free environment is defined as one where the following are prohibited:
- All use of cigarettes, cigars or burning tobacco in any form;
- Burning of incense;
- Use and/or possession of alcohol and other drugs, which are prohibited by state law and/or Ithaca College policy (i.e., use of marijuana, misuse and/or abuse of prescription drugs, etc.)
Substance-Free community members are responsible for upholding these policies, which apply to all common areas, private rooms, hallways, bathrooms, stairwells, and lounges.
You are prohibited from returning to the Substance-Free RLC while under the influence of any substance. Substance-Free community members are also responsible for the behavior of their guests, and must assume accountability for their actions.
