Balancing freedom and responsibility when it comes to substance use can be challenging in college. IC students are encouraged to take advantage of the many helpful resources available on our campus and in the community. The services listed here are designed to be sensitive to the challenges college students face when dealing with alcohol or other drug-related concerns.

BASICS is a free and confidential program to assist you in examining your drinking and other drug use in a judgment-free environment. BASICS is not an abstinence-only program. Instead, the goals are selected by you and aimed at reducing risky behavior and potential harmful consequences.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Ithaca College offers individual and group counseling in a private and convenient setting for students. Additionally, CAPS Crisis Services are available from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. After-Hours On-Call availability include Monday through Friday from 5pm to 8:30am and 24-hours on weekends, holidays, & closures.

Al-Anon is a twelve-step group for friends and family members of people with addictions that meets off campus. For information about local meetings please visit the Al-Anon website.

The Ithaca Community Recovery (ICR) is a non-profit organization that provides safe, affordable, and drug/alcohol free meeting spaces for 12 Step and other recovery-related groups, individuals, and their families. Visit their website for local meeting times and locations.

Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (CARS) offers individualized services tailored to meet the needs of college students. CARS accepts most insurance plans, and fees are on a sliding scale. To make an appointment, call 607 273-5500.

The NIAAA Alcohol Treatment Navigator can be used to help adults find evidence-based, alcohol treatment for themselves or a loved one (over the age of 18).
