Blackboard Basics

This training offers instructors an introduction to using Blackboard, Ithaca College's central course management system. Using a practice course for hands-on learning, you will acquire the fundamental skills needed to build and manage your course in Blackboard, such as:

  • activating your course and publishing your syllabus
  • navigating within the Build, Teach, and Student views
  • adding, using, and removing course management tools, 
  • creating, uploading, and organizing course content
  • using communication tools (announcements, discussion boards)
  • using the Gradebook to manage student grades
  • distributing and managing course assignments
  • course design elements
