Founder's Day Concert 2009

We had glorious weather which really topped off the 18th annual Friends Founder"s Day Concert in Dewitt Park.  There was a great turnout of at least 250 people enjoying the fine weather and music.  The president of the Friends, Joe Metz, welcomed everyone, and Tom Rochon made a few brief remarks before turning the podium over to conductor Steve Peterson and the wind ensemble which played music inspired by dances from the polka to the waltz.  The clarinet polka was a favorite.  But the show stealer was the little boy about 3 years old who had been sitting in his mini lawn chair next to his father conducting the whole time and bowing after every piece. During the Sousa finale Steve Peterson invited the little boy up to the stage where he unabashedly conducted the ensemble to the great amusement of the audience and the musicians.
