Keeping Fit

It's easy to be active on the Ithaca campus. Besides our hillside location -- great for hiking and biking -- we have for-credit physical activity classes, a top-notch fitness center, and a comprehensive recreational sports program. You might join an intramural basketball, soccer, or volleyball team. Numerous sport clubs, such as snowboarding, lacrosse, and tae kwon do have sprung from students' interests. You can also take classes in cycling, aerobics, yoga, and more.

Best of all, most of the athletic facilities and programs, including the indoor pool and outdoor track, are free (there is a small fee for a few things, like Pilates, tai chi, and the climbing wall).

Intercollegiate Athletics

Ithaca has 26 athletic teams and 15 national championships: 3 each in football and wrestling; 2 each in baseball, women's crew, and women's soccer; and 1 each in field hockey, softball, and gymnastics.

Gridiron Must-See

Even if you don't follow the bowl games, the Cortaca Jug is one football game you won't want to miss. In an annual rivalry dating back over half a century, Ithaca and Cortland State battle for the jug -- a trophy with each year's score documented on it -- while some 10,000 fans cheer them on.
