The Hammond Health Center will get you through the sniffles as well as teach you about health and preventive medicine. Fully accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, the clinic has licensed personnel on staff seven days a week when classes are in session. Our board-certified physicians, physician assistants, registered professional nurses, and support staff are ready and able to give you care and advice.
We also have a Center for Counseling and Psychological Services that offers individual and group counseling, outreach programs, and many self-help resources. Our licensed and license-eligible staff members provide services free of charge to Ithaca students, helping them make better decisions, improve their relationships, develop confidence, and increase self-awareness. There's even a health promotion program that offers wellness workshops, a resource room, smoking cessation programs, and other services.
At Ithaca you'll quickly find that your professors are more than teachers: they are mentors, dedicated to helping students succeed in the classroom and in the real world. They will not only answer any questions you may have about your courses, but they'll also offer advice on choosing an internship, applying for a scholarship, or researching graduate schools. They also regularly ask students to collaborate on research, coauthor papers, or travel to conferences.
The faculty isn't the only group that will help you navigate college life: staff members in such areas as the Offices of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs, International Programs, and Career Services may serve as official and unofficial mentors. The Student Leadership Institute offers a number of interactive workshops that help students develop and refine their personal leadership skills. In addition, peer advisers help business students choose their schedules, and your RA (resident assistant) will offer advice about dining halls or events to check out.
There's also our extremely active Center for LGBT Education, Outreach, and Services, which provides resources and support to students who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender.
Ithaca College provides numerous ways to maintain an active spiritual life. On campus you'll find a variety of religious organizations, including Hillel, the Protestant Community, and the Catholic Community.
