Evidence
of Work
One of the most basic pieces
of an ePortfolio is the evidence included;
evidence is meant to provide a deeper
understanding to the viewer of your skills,
experience, and thoughts. Evidence should
provide proof to prospective employers
of your abilities and talents and tailored
to your intended audience. An ePortfolio
intended as part of an application for
certification may include different types
of evidence than one intended for a job
application.
Most importantly, your evidence
should be accompanied by some form of
reflective content or writing. Reflection
on lessons learned or experience gained
alongside the proof of effort provides
a much deeper understanding of what was
involved in your work, and also a deeper
understanding of you as an individual.
A
Collaborative Effort
The creation of an ePortfolio
should be a collaborative effort between
students, students and faculty, and students and their advisors. The creative
process can often be enhanced in a group
setting or through constructive feedback.
Just as in coursework, faculty can
provide important insight into the evidence
used. In addition, faculty or
advisors may be aware of certain requirements
that must be met by an ePortfolio if it
is intended for professional purposes.
It is highly recommended
that you involve faculty members and your
advisor when working on evidence to be
used in an ePortfolio.
