Kulmusik in St. Petersburg

Performances beyond Ithaca form an important part of the mission of the School of Music. The opportunity to make music for an increasingly wider audience is an integral part of our students' training -- and pushes them to new heights as musicians.

Tours have taken our music students to cities in the East, such as New York and Washington, and even overseas. Our ensembles have won critical acclaim for their work in New York City at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center's Alice Tully and Avery Fisher Halls, Symphony Space, and St. Patrick's Cathedral. They've also performed at the Royal Academy of Music in London and in medieval churches and concert venues in Ireland, including the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

In April 2008, the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra and the Ithaca College Choral Union (comprised of the choir, women's chorale, and chorus) performed Verdi's Requiem at Lincoln Center. Our ensembles have also made several trips to Ireland, including the wind ensemble (2007), women's chorale (2005), chamber orchestra (2003), and choir (2002).

Students also often perform off campus as a soloist or in area ensembles, as well as at regional and national conferences and festivals. For example, several ensembles have performed at the New York State School Music Association Winter Conference, College Band Director's National Association, American Choral Directors Association, and other conferences.
