Ithaca College Calendar Of Events For November 13 - 18


FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13
THEATER
Ithaca College Theatre performance of “Children of Eden.”  Inspired by the Bible’s Book of Genesis, “Children of Eden” uses Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and Noah and the flood to shed new light on universal stories of love, hope, parents and children; 8 p.m., Hoerner Theatre, Dillingham Center (admission charged).

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14
MUSIC
Choral Composition Festival performance featuring the world premiere of Steven Stucky’s “Gravity's Dream” by the Ithaca College Choir; 7 p.m., Ford Hall, Whalen Center.

LECTURE
“Race and Immigration in the Context of the Caribbean,” a Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity lecture series talk by Anjali Nerlekar, assistant professor of English; 7 p.m., Clark Lounge, Egbert Hall.

MUSIC
Faculty recital by pianist Charis Dimaras, playing Haydn Sonatas and Beethoven’s “Appassionata”; 7 p.m.,
Hockett Family Recital Hall, Whalen Center.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17
MUSIC
Faculty recital by Alexander Shuhan, French horn; Elizabeth Shuhan, flute; and Jennifer Hayghe, piano, playing music by Wilson, Winteregg, Hindemith and Liebermann; 7 p.m., Hockett Family Recital Hall, Whalen Center.

Opera Workshop performance, directed by Brian DeMaris; 8:15 p.m., Ford Hall, Whalen Center.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18
MUSIC
Performance by the Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Jeffery Meyer, featuring Susan Waterbury and Nicholas DiEugenio, violin soloists, playing music by Beethoven, Stravinsky, Schnittke and Kodály; 8:15 p.m., Ford Hall, Whalen Center.

CONTINUING EXHIBITS
“Threads of Hope: The Chilean Arpillera Movement,” an exhibition of small hand sewn and embroidered/embellished tapestries, created by women, most of whose relatives were among those listed as detained/disappeared during the military dictatorship in Chile. The exhibit runs through Dec. 11, Handwerker Gallery. The gallery is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
