About International Students
IMMIGRATION REGULATIONS
International students are subject to strict immigration regulations. In
order for international students to maintain their visa status, they need
to comply with all immigration regulations. The two most frequent areas of
concern for international students are full-time enrollment and advance authorization
for employment.
Enrollment requirement
In order to meet the full-time enrollment requirement, undergraduate
students must be enrolled in and complete a minimum of 12 credits each semester
(except in the summer) and graduate students must be enrolled in and complete
a minimum of 9 credits each semester (except summer).
Employment
International students interested in off-campus employment (including practical experiences for
the purpose of internships, field research, field work, etc.) must receive
prior authorization.
In all instances of concern related to their status,
international students should consult the Office of International Programs
(OIP). OIP is located in 214-2 Center for Health Sciences and can be reached at 274-3306.
