Update on 96B Intitiative
hi Again Everyone,
So Brian Griffin, Moira Colley, and I met on Friday to discuss what areas to target with the pedestrian walkway Initiative. We are currently contacting Marian Brown ( Special Assistant to the Provost and central player in Ithaca College's Partnerships for Sustainability Education) to see what administrators and local players will be attending our meeting which has been moved to December 4th. We are also looking into similar intitiaves at other colleges or towns involving state highways and residential areas. I will be contacting Fernando De Aragon at the Ithaca-Tompkins County Transportation Commission (ITCTC) to ask him wuestions regarding the need for the second lane going to 96B by Rogans, as well as to get some contact information for a local civil engineer to discuss estimated costs of a project and logistics. In our research brian found a link to the Town of Ithaca's "IDENTIFYING & PRIORITIZING BIKE AND PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS". At the top of the list is 96 B with the following description:
Danby Road, City line to Ithaca College: This segment is a student commuter route between Downtown and IthacaCollege. It could potentially extend down Route 96B, toward Danby, and connect to a walkway on East KingRoad. The portion in the Town will link into City’s sidewalk network. Given the traffic volume and speedprofile of the road, the existing road shoulders are inadequate and unsafe for pedestrian traffic. Evidence ofpedestrian volume is shown in the informal off-road path beat into the ground. This corridor is served by transit.
I will keep you all updated as things unfold and more meetings occur. Happy Monday!

Sidewalk on 96-B
hi Everyone!
So, Jeff Goodwin (Student Body President) and I were talking about big SGA initiatives for this year and he asked me to help lead the large initiative of getting a sidewalk or pedestrian path on 96-B. This has been an issue for a few years now and SGA really wants to make significant strides in accomplishing this. My team of researchers on possible implementation for the project will consist of Moira Colley and Brian Griffin ( Senior senators), Chloe Todd ( Junior senator), and Aubrey Bendix (VP of Campus Affairs). We would love to have a few members-at-large from the student body of anyone interested in helping make this happen so email me at clee2@ithaca.edu if you are interested. As of now, we have a meeting with a few key players within Ithaca College on November 20th so I will keep you posted on what is discussed in the meeting.

Strategic Planning Committee
This year SGA will be doing a complete overhaul (as promised) of its current state. In order to analyze its current structure and recommend action for its future growth and adaptation to such a unique campus community, the Senate has passed a proposal for the Strategic Planning Committee which will be the foundation for change and improvements needed. The goals of the committee are to draft both mission and vision statements to provide direction for SGA, assess its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT analysis), and much more. The committee will consist of 18 people:
- 1 Senator from each school
- 1 Senator from each class
- 5 Students at Large
- Student Trustee and Student Director of Alumni Board ( Co-Chairs)
If you are interested in being a part of this exciting process please let either Jeff Goodwin (Student Director of Alumni Board) or myself know. Thanks, and I hope everyone's year is off to a great start!
