Special Academic Opportunities for Students

Special Academic Opportunities (SAO) at Ithaca College recognize academic achievement and encourage intellectual endeavor.  The internships, fellowships, and scholarships listed as SAOs are typically national and internal awards and often involved graduate study.  Many SAOs require institutional nomination because they are more competitive than most opportunities for which you might apply.

The candidates who experience the most success in applying for SAOs are those who have a record of leadership. Academic achievements qualify as an important facet of collegiate success, but they are only one aspect of an individual’s development as a student and future career professional.

During the nomination process communication is established between you and the Office of the Provost. The Office makes a dedicated effort to identify potential SAO candidates, but the process is most efficient when student make their interested known to them.  Early inquiries are highly recommended.

To locate possible opportunities of interest, please read through the information posted on this website.  If you have any questions, please contact us at provost@ithaca.edu.
