JUMPSTART PROGRAM
The Jumpstart Program gives an opportunity for new students to ease into college and get acquainted with peers before the semester begins. New students may apply to take part in one of four specially designed programs that will help them transition into the Ithaca College experience.
Each program has a different focus, and selected participants will take part in activities and exercises centered on themes.
E-VENTS
E-vents is free, detailed, and far-reaching, making it one of the most effective ways to promote your events on campus.
ORACLE HONOR SOCIETY
The Office for New Student Programs and the Office of the Provost coordinates the induction ceremony for the Oracle Honor Society. Presently, freshmen students in the top five percent of their School are invited to become members of Oracle at the end of their first semester of enrollment. At the end of the full freshman year, students in the top ten percent of each School are invited to accept membership. Oracle members believe that these able freshmen will indeed contribute leadership, loyalty, and service to Ithaca College during their subsequent years here.
FIRST-YEAR DIVERSITY SPEAKER
Because learning occurs in the dynamic context of a global economy that moves peoples, cultures, and ideas around the globe, we want the members of the Ithaca Community of learners to be at ease in a number of settings, with people from a variety of backgrounds, and with ideas new to their experience. All first-year students and new transfer students are required to attend a diversity workshop.
FIRST-YEAR FEATURED SPEAKER
The First-Year Featured Speaker is one of the highlights of the First Year Experience. The speaker is specifically selected to inspire new students and our community and to address the First Year Foundational Theme.
FALL WELCOME
Fall Welcome includes a welcome picnic, all-college Convocation, the First Year Reading Initiative discussion, social activities, a meeting held by the Academic Deans, and many interesting workshops and presentations offered by offices and organizations on campus.
All of these programs being offered are to help students in their transition.
