CAPS Fall Group Counseling Schedule for Students

                                                                                                                     

Understanding Self & Others (CAPS Group Room)

Tuesday1:10-2:40PM       Wednesday11-12:30PM        Thursday12:45-2:15PM

Do you wonder how you are perceived? Do you find yourself in unhelpful relationships?  

This process group focuses on releasing feelings about distressing experiences while developing insights about ourselves through validation and feedback from others. 

Students attending this group create connections and more fulfilling interpersonal relationships.

Belonging: Processing Group for BIPOC Students 

Date/Time to be determined     Interested students can call CAPS or email snevels@ithaca.edu

Confidential, virtual space for BIPOC students (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) to connect with one another around the challenges and blessings that come with our racial identities, and the experience of attending a predominantly white institution.

 With the support of CAPS counselors (who are also BIPOC), the group provides an opportunity to find validation, new perspectives, motivation, and acceptance among BIPOC peers.

Nourishing Self (CAPS Group Room)

Thursdays 4-5 PM- Interested students can call CAPS at 607-274-3136

Struggling with Body image? Self-worth? Worry about weight and appearance? Feeling like too much or not enough? Distress around food, eating, exercise? 

This group allows open discussion about these issues, underlying concerns, and creating a more peaceful relationship with ourselves. New members are welcome to join anytime throughout the semester. 

If interested, please call for a brief individual meeting with the facilitator to discuss the group and how it can support you in your goals.

Neurodiversity Group (CAPS Group Room)

Tuesday 12-1pm- Interested students can call CAPS or email jwapinskimooradian@ithaca.edu

Support group for students who identify as neurodiverse to create community and to receive and offer support to peers. This group is drawing from disability literature that empowers "nothing about us without us" to allow students to create connections with others who know what's best for themselves.

Stress Management Toolbox ( Held on Zoom)

 Tuesdays at 12-1PM. Interested students can email bpetersen@ithaca.edubefore 9am EST on Tuesday to receive a Zoom link

Many people are feeling more anxious and finding that their usual coping strategies are not working as well. This support group will be a place for students to check in with each other, to share resources, and to practice a few useful techniques for coping with anxiety.
