Chemistry and Human Experience from Ancient to Contemporary Times (CHEM-10400) is a 3-credit, introductory level ICC course taught from the Natural Sciences (NS) perspective and within the Inquiry, Imagination, Innovation (TIII) theme. The course introduces basic chemistry concepts by exploring everyday human experiences throughout history on a need-to-know basis. It addresses fundamental human needs such as water, food, shelter, health, and fuel, examining how advancements in chemical knowledge have improved quality of life. A special unit in the course explores the fascinating history of materials chemistry in art. Designed for a general audience; no prior knowledge of chemistry is required.
