Ty Benners '24 Joins Office of NSTP as New Administrative Operations Coordinator
Ty is a 2024 graduate of Ithaca College, completing their degree in Vocal Performance and Business Administration with a concentration in Theatre this past May. In addition to their studies, Ty was an exceptionally involved student during their undergraduate years. A guiding theme throughout their many activities and para-professional roles was a passion for building connections and a sense of belonging among current and prospective students.
Ty served as a Student Leadership Consultant within the Office of Student Engagement. In this role, Ty made significant contributions in structuring and delivering engaging alternative programming through the Campus Center.
Ty also served for three years as a Student Assistant in the School of Music. They played a significant role in assisting with the facilitation of audition days, while they also were an integral part of the Dean's Host Program and a dedicated ambassador of the program to prospective IC students. Incorporating their interest in theatrical performance, Ty spent two years as Assistant Company Manager for the Dorset Theatre Festival.
A supremely talented vocalist, Ty performed at many major college events including President Cornish's inauguration and Commencement. Ty also was heavily involved in revitalizing active membership in Ithaca College's Musicians of Color Association (IC MOCA) and Voicestream, an all-gender inclusive acappella at IC.
"I'm excited to help students new to Ithaca find their footing and community at Ithaca College," Ty said. "College can be scary for many people, and creating a welcoming space where people feel emboldened to explore their interests and find places where they feel welcomed as their authentic selves is important to me."
Ty's other passions include dancing, reading, and exploring Ithaca's many hiking trails.
