If You Are Locked Out

  • Circles residents:
    • Between 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. Monday-Friday, call the AA on duty.
    • Before 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday or Sunday, call the AA on duty.
    • At all other times, go to the Circles Community Building Residential Life office.
  • All other residents:
    • Between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, go to the East Tower Residential Life office (lobby level).
    • At all other times, call the RA on duty.
  • In an emergency, call Public Safety at (607) 274-3333.

If you have your ID card, you will be given a lock-out key to use to let yourself back into your room. A lock-out key must be returned to the appropriate office as outlined above within 24 hours. If it is not returned within this time frame, an immediate lock change will be ordered at your expense.

If you cannot produce your ID card, we encourage you to wait for your roommate to return to gain access to your room/apartment. If you cannot wait for a roommate to return, you live in a single room, or you are locked out of a single bedroom in an apartment, our staff can escort you to your room, the door will be unlocked, and you will be asked to produce your student ID card for verification purposes.

These precautions help to ensure the safety and security of the buildings, our students, and their possessions.

Lock-out Charges

The first lock-out each semester will not result in a charge. For each additional lock-out during the semester, you will be assessed a $10.00 fee whether you receive a lock-out key or are provided access to your room by a staff member. The lock-out fee will be billed to your student account.
