Next Steps In the Process

Before You Begin...

Interested applicants must:

  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America.
  • Be able to demonstrate current (and past) continued service in their local communities through a social justice lens.
  • Be ready to clearly articulate throughout the application and interview process their leadership involvement and expand on their personal development because of those experiences.
  • Be willing to stay committed to service, program requirements, academic excellence, and social justice throughout their four-year experience at Ithaca College.

Getting Started

Next, candidates should:

1. Apply to Ithaca College via Common App. Auditions and interviews, which are required for majors in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, must also be completed on time to continue to be considered in our process as "admitted students." 

2. Complete the MLK Scholar Program application in IC Connect. 

(Please note that you will not be able to access the application until you have submitted your application for admission to Ithaca College.)

3. Stay tuned for upcoming info sessions and opportunities to engage with current MLK Scholars. This website will be updated regularly with dates, links, and descriptions for these opportunities. 

4. Watch your email. If you are selected as a semi-finalist, you will be invited to an interview with one of our Program Team faculty or staff members.

Important Dates and Deadlines

Admission Application Deadlines:

November 1: Early decision
December 1: Early action
December 1: Regular decision (School of Music and the Department of Theatre Arts)
February 1: Regular decision (all other majors)

MLK Scholar Program Application Deadline: January 15

Mid-February: Candidates will be notified via email about their standing after a first-round screening and review of applications conducted by our recruitment team. Semi-finalists will receive information to schedule an interview with one of our Program Support Team members.

Early March: Interviews will be conducted and additional programs for semi-finalists will be available. 

Early April: Scholarship recipients will be notified and announced.
