This summer, Park Scholars engaged in a range of service activities on behalf of their communities, using their media skills and their sweat equity. Their involvement took them to youth media camps; an organization, Part of the Solution, that addresses food insecurity and hunger; local churches; local school districts; community cleanup of hurricane damage; a nonprofit, Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers, that helps clean and maintain trails and public lands, independent media organizations, including FAIR; a company that converts cow manure into energy; an organization, Kids in the Game, that runs summer camps and youth sports programs in NYC; the City of Newark (NJ) Citywide Drive Up & Go Food Distribution; the Gloria Shields NSPA Media Workshop; community baseball youth camps; and The Village at Ithaca.
