Janelle Harris is a second-year student at Ithaca College, and a true Park Scholar. Last year, during her free time, Janelle could be seen volunteering at the State Theatre in downtown Ithaca, and connecting with prospective students and their families, providing them with guided campus tours as an Admission Host tour guide. These are just a few ways that Janelle likes to give back to the Ithaca community. She believes that when one loves their community, their community will love them back. Janelle also stayed in Ithaca, NY this past summer, giving campus tours to high school students. Janelle plans to continue to participate in these activities for the fall 2024 semester and, additionally, will work with residents of the McGraw House assisted living community. Moreover, Janelle is an eager and active member of multiple co-curricular activities on campus, including ICTV, the New York Film & Television Student Alliance (NYFTSA), and Women in Communications. This past spring, Janelle was able to accompany NYFTSA on their annual trip to NYC. This trip included studio/set tours, alumni meet-ups, and even the opportunity to attend a recording of ABC’s The View. This coming fall, Janelle will be 1 of 9 students selected to attend The Lake Placid Film Festival on their Student Summit Scholarship. She is incredibly grateful to have been granted these highly sought-after opportunities and is excited to continue to explore the ever-changing world of film & television with each new experience.
