Lucia Carucci is a Filmmaker and artist from New York, currently studying both Cinema Production and History and minoring in Screenwriting. Last year she volunteered at Beverly J. Martin Elementary School, creating art projects with young students, and worked with The Village at Ithaca, a non-profit organization centered around dismantling systemic injustice and supporting local students. She had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the production team, as well as the behind-the-scenes photographer, for a documentary piece driven by The Village called Restoring Joy, delving into the issues students of color are facing and recording their stories. She performs small concerts with fellow Park Scholars, Augustine Daudu and Autumn Valdes, at a local retirement community as well. She started, and is the President of, a Youth Movement Against Alzheimer’s chapter at Ithaca College striving to assist with educating people in the college-age community on brain health and preventative measures for Alzheimer’s and dementia while reducing the stigma around cognitive decline and fostering a positive community. Her goal is to cultivate empathy and cultivate it in a meaningful way through art, building impactful representations of the human experience and the potential of our minds to either reach beyond reality or find beauty in simplicity. She aspires to use film, writing, music, and other creative practices to bring joy, love, and connection to others while representing stories with depth and complexity, bringing a sense of understanding and relatability to audiences.
