Beyond school, Lucia volunteers as a pen pal and writer for the Love for Our Elders organization, and she also volunteers as a "Big Buddy” and bilingual assistant at the Reading Buddies program at her local library in Clinton, NJ. Her artistic talents were recognized with the Excellence in Artistic Achievement Award for content creation for her school’s sports media. Here at IC, Lucia is a prompter and writer for Roommate Rumble on ICTV and is a member of the design team at The Ithacan. She also plans to work on a sports media show, to create content for the Ithaca Creative Media Team, and to become a member of the Latinx student association, Poder, and the student club, IC Mixed. Lucia is currently volunteering at Finger Lakes ReUse, helping them with their social media marketing. Lucia believes that the integration of her creative talents with her cultural identity allows her to fully devote herself to her community with passion and authenticity.
