Leaving my hometown of Hopewell Junction, NY, I started my journey at Ithaca College as an exploratory student. Even though I was discovering my major, my goal has been to work in the healthcare profession. I want to help people strive for better health, which is why I went abroad the summer of 2017. On this trip, I discovered the way I want to practice, the way treatment can be personalized, and the way healthcare and creativity can intertwine—I discovered occupational therapy.
After being accepted into the occupational therapy program, I embraced the many opportunities available to me to grow professionally and personally. I have participated in both the adult and pediatric Occupational Therapy Clinics, in a stroke support group, and conducted research on the infant use of powered mobility. These experiences have allowed me to apply material learned in the classroom to real-life situations; they enhanced my learning, making it more personal and memorable. I am grateful to have worked with and learn from our remarkable professors and my incredible classmates over the years. They have guided me to where I am today and helped me build a solid foundation to be successful in my journey beyond Ithaca College.
