What did you do during your time at IC?
I was a part of a few different clubs-- HEARD and Books Through Bars were my favorite. I was the editor of the honors journal, Symposium. I worked in the greenhouse and in the animal suite in CNS and I was a part of the Miner lab for two years.
What have you been doing since you graduated IC?
I've recently joined the marketing and communications team at the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the biggest trust fund for global environment initiatives. I help maintain their social media accounts, write blogs, and prepare the newsletter that goes out to subscribers and donors.
How do you feel IC prepared you for your career?
I think environmental literacy is a big one. My current job requires me to read research papers, sift through field data, and generate content that's accessible to a more general audience on social media. I think my time in the bio department gave me those necessary skills. On a more general scale, I think my time at IC taught me to work collaboratively. I learned the importance of having diverse, innovative ideas contributing to a project-- something that's just as important in my current position.
What is one thing you love about IC Biology?
I love the lasting connections I made-- with students and professors.
