Student Scholarships

Francille M. and John D. Firebaugh Endowed Scholarship in Gerontology

Awarded to an outstanding student in the aging studies (gerontology) program (major, minor, or certificate) who has demonstrated financial need. Francille Firebaugh’s hope is that this scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding student in the Aging Studies program with both an exceptional academic record and a strong commitment to service activities.


Daphne B. Hammond Endowed Scholarship in Aging Studies

Awarded to an outstanding student majoring in aging studies (gerontology) who has demonstrated financial need. Established in 2003 through the generosity of Daphne B. Hammond. Daphne Hammond was a wonderful woman with a great deal of respect for academic excellence as well as for the Gerontology Institute.


John E. Krout Scholarship in Aging Studies

Awarded to an outstanding student majoring in aging studies. (In the absence of a qualified student with a major in aging studies, a student with a minor in that field can be considered.) This scholarship is named for John E. Krout, J.D., a lifelong advocate for the importance of education in the lives of young people and father of Professor Emeritus John A. Krout. Dr. Krout is the founding director of the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute. This scholarship honors the memory of his father and the support he gave his own children in their educational adventures. It will assist Aging Studies majors realize their academic dreams.
