The Gilman scholarship program offers a competition for awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000.

Rebekah Shyloski ('11), a Spanish and Art History double major, received a Gilman Scholarship for for study in Cordoba, Argentina, to immerse herself in the Castilian dialect spoken in the region and study art collections in Cordoba and Buenos Aires.
