LOCATION

  • All degree-required junior recitals take place in the Hockett Family Recital Hall.
  • Degree-required senior recitals normally take place in Ford Hall, although they may be held in the Hockett Family Recital Hall if the student's studio professor supports that decision.

Recitals may be held off campus if the student's studio professor supports that decision. The Center for Music provides no support to off campus recitals.

SCHEDULING

Recitals are scheduled in one-on-one meetings with the Concerts and Facilities Manager. Near the halfway point in the semester, an email we be sent out to all students letting them know they can begin booking appointments for scheduling a recital in the following semester. Seniors giving degree-required recitals will be given booking appointments first, followed by juniors giving degree-required recitals, and then seniors giving elective recitals.

Students will be required to bring a Recital Date Selection Form with you to your booking appointment. On this form, students will list their top five choices of the remaining available dates. The student's studio professor must sign this form verifying that they are available to attend the student's recital on any of the listed dates.

Once your recital is scheduled, it cannot be rescheduled in the same semester except in cases of illness or similar emergency.

If a student misses the window for scheduling a recital, they may not receive support from the Center for Music in the form of programs, advertisement, stage crew, or other services, or may not be able to have the recital in Whalen.
