During Larry's long and distinguished service on the board, he was part of the college's growth and development, making it the institution it is today. He was chair of the college's first comprehensive campaign, was co-chair of the School of Business Building Campaign Committee, and twice served as vice chair of the board of trustees. His leadership and philanthropy established the PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP Scholarship, awarded to accounting majors whose academic performance is outstanding and who are planning a career in public accounting.
Lawrence M. Alleva '71
Gloria L. Hobbs
Elected to the board of trustees in 1972, Gloria is a linguist, scholar, and administrator who has authored numerous articles on topics ranging from French literature to the African diaspora. After earning her undergraduate degree at Hunter College, Gloria obtained a master's degree at Columbia University and a doctorate in modern languages at the University of Texas at Austin. In 1966, she took a leave of absence from her academic responsibilities to help create the first Women's Job Corps Center in Texas and serve as its deputy director for three years. A world traveler and the recipient of many honors, Gloria is a strong advocate for marginalized young people in higher education and the workplace. She has established several scholarships, including the Gloria Hobbs Scholarship for deserving minority students at Ithaca College. In 1983, she retired from the City University of New York as dean and professor emerita. In 1987, she received the Meritorious Service Award, which recognizes distinguished achievements and contributions to the college by non-graduates. Gloria has served as an honorary trustee since 1987.
Robert A. Iger '73
After graduating from Ithaca College with a degree in television–radio in 1973, Bob accepted a position at the ABC group, eventually becoming its chairman and managing several networks including ABC, A&E, and Lifetime. In 1999, Bob became the president and CEO of the Walt Disney Company. An extraordinary businessman, he guided the company through several acquisitions (including Pixar, Marvel Entertainment, and Lucasfilm) that revitalized the company. Bob has received countless honors for his strategic and innovative leadership, including being named MarketWatch CEO of the year, one of Forbes magazine's "top gun CEOs," and one of Fortune magazine's 25 most powerful people in business. Throughout his career, Bob has remained a passionate and involved member of the Ithaca College community, helping to launch the Making a World of Difference comprehensive campaign in 2006, speaking at the college's 1993 Commencement ceremony, and participating in the S'Park! Igniting Your Future in Communications course through the Roy H. Park School of Communications. Bob was elected to the board of trustees in 1989 and became an honorary trustee in 1990.
Nancy Pringle
Nancy retired in June 2019 after a 25-year career at Ithaca College. In addition to her role as General Counsel and Secretary of the Board, Nancy served as executive vice president and senior advisor to President Collado. She was recognized by the board with honorary trustee status for her extraordinary contributions and being a respected colleague who has provided “intellect, creativity, civility and stability” while serving four presidents, six board chairs and hundreds of board members as well as untold faculty, administrators, students and staff.
David W. Sass '57, Parent '83
An active member of Adelphi, Hillel, and the Cayugan, David graduated with honors from Ithaca College in 1957 with a degree in history. In 1960, he received a juris doctor from Temple University and went on to obtain a master of laws degree in taxation from New York University. David has been a practicing attorney for more than 55 years, working as a senior partner in the distinguished New York City firm McLaughlin & Stern. David joined the board of trustees in 1980 and served as vice chair from 1993 to 2001, when he was appointed honorary trustee. Beyond his duties on the board, David is an active member of the New York City business alumni community and has served as an honorary member of the board's Institutional Advancement Committee. He has also been a volunteer for the Office of Admission and a speaker for the School of Business New York City alumni.
