Peter R. Taffae graduated from Ithaca College in 1982 with a bachelor of arts degree in politics. He is the founder and managing director at ExecutivePerils, a firm that specializes in directors and officers liability (D&O), cyber, intellectual property, crime, fiduciary liability, professional errors and omissions (E&O), and legal malpractice and employment practices liability (EPLI) insurance for financial institutions and corporate clients.

Before starting ExecutivePerils, Inc., he was senior vice president and manager of the Financial Services department at the Minet Group, a subsidiary of AON, in Los Angeles for four years. Prior to that, he served for eight years as senior vice president and manager of Marsh & McLennan's Financial and Professional Liability (FINPRO) department in its Los Angeles office, and as Pacific South FINPRO regional coordinator. In all of those positions, he specialized in D&O, E&O, EPLI, and kidnap/ransom insurances.

Peter began his insurance career at Chubb & Son's Executive Protection department — initially in Philadelphia, then in the Wall Street (New York City) and Woodland Hills (California) offices. He served with Chubb for five years.

He is on the editorial board of Employment Practices Liability Consultant; a board member of the Digital Risk Underwriting Society; a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and of the Professional Liability Underwriter Society (PLUS); and a chartered member of Aetna/ERMA National Advisory Committee. He has lectured on D&O, EPLI, and cyber topics for various chapters of the Risk Management Society, ACI, Insurance Innovation Reporter, Mealey's, PLUS, the Practicing Law Institution, Tillinghast and Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson), and the Insurance Educational Association. He often speaks.

Peter has also been extremely active in Internet and intellectual property insurance issues. He is often a speaker at industry events and has been quoted frequently on cyber and D&O topics in industry publications including the Wall Street Journal. 

He is a board member of the International Montessori Training Institute, Taffae Family Foundation and the Simon Wiesenthal Center, previously the Entrepreneurs' Organization, and Meals on Wheels West. He lives in Santa Monica, California.
