Ray Allen Boone began his career at Ithaca College in 1975 at the Ithaca College Bronx campus, retiring in 2007 after serving as adjunct associate professor of physical therapy.
Ray was pivotal in organizing the move of the off-site PT program from the Bronx to the Rochester campus, and during his tenure at IC he taught in excess of 2,000 students. Upon his retirement in 2007, a 1981 graduate wrote of Ray, “I always remember your encouragement, easy smile, and more often than not, much-needed assistance. Thank you for your guidance and good humor, for placing me on my career path with knowledge and confidence and for the memory of good times through all that intense studying.”
Ray graduated from Augusta High School in 1963 and received a bachelor of science in physical therapy from Washington University School of Physical Therapy in 1967. He graduated from West Virginia University Graduate School for Anatomy in 1974. In 1975, he graduated from University of Houston - Baylor College of Medicine Graduate School with a master's in education with allied health education and administration. He also earned a doctorate from New York University School of Education Health, Nursing & Arts Profession.
Ray served his country with the U.S. Naval Reserves at Philadelphia Naval Hospital and as assistant chief physical therapist, lieutenant junior grade, USNR at Guam Naval Hospital, Guam. He had attended the Augusta Christian Church, and enjoyed spending time with family.
