The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides resources for both the employee and supervisor. It is a confidential, voluntary, no cost consultation, and referral service for employees and eligible family members. It is designed for people in need of professional assistance to overcome personal issues that may affect work performance.
If an employee's personal life is adversely affecting work performance, as a supervisor, you should only address the job and the performance required to accomplish that job, but can mention the EAP as a resource.
