A message from Sarah Richards, President, Alumni Association Board of Directors

Sarah Richards '91, President, Ithaca College Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Hello, Ithaca College Alumni, Parents, and Supporters, I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying a wonderful autumn. By the time you read this, chances are the fantastic Homecoming weekend (September 13–15, 2024) is a great memory. I’m sure those of you who attended enjoyed the IC Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony, annual Celebration of Scholarships event, networking event with alumni and current students, and, of course, the football game against Endicott College!

As president of the Ithaca College Alumni Association Board of Directors, I am grateful for the dedication of the board members and other volunteers who serve on committees. Please join me in welcoming our newest members of the board: Ken Beebe ’09 (Business), Camille Doherty ’93 (H&S), Riley Ludwig ’18 (Park), Linda Petrosino ’77, MS ’78 (HSHP), and Meghan Swope ’11 (Park).

To strengthen our ties to Ithaca College and the alumni association, board members arrived ahead of schedule for Alumni Weekend 2024 in June to dedicate more time together. We spent this additional time discussing the strategic vision for each committee, learning more about the group Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow, getting an update on the amazing services offered by the Center for Career Exploration and Development, calling and writing donors to thank them for their gifts, and exploring our evolving campus with a scavenger hunt. Thank you to the staffs of the multiple administrative offices who dedicated time to our learning, and thank you to the board members who arrived early with the focus of learning more about our wonderful alma mater.

Recently, our board members updated the association’s mission statement to better reflect the mission of the board today. See below and please send your feedback to alumni@ithaca.edu.

Ithaca College Alumni Association Board of Directors Mission Statement

The Ithaca College Alumni Association Board of Directors advances the association through three areas of focus:

1. Attract and engage alumni in annual and ongoing events for Ithaca College through on-campus and regional activities and donor support.

2. Act as advisory partners to the college’s leadership.

3. Inclusively foster relationships among current students, alumni, and stakeholder communities, promoting collaboration and continuous learning.

IC’s Alumni Association Board of Directors membership is open to nominations, and you can nominate yourself as well. The length of a board term is three years (board members may serve two terms for a total of six years). The overall time commitment depends on the committees you serve on. Volunteering for a committee is a great way to learn more. For more information and to submit a nomination, go to alumni.ithaca.edu/home.

Thanks again for your commitment to Ithaca College!
