Martin Luther King Jr. (born Michael King Jr.; January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was a Baptist minister and activist. One of the most visible spokesperson and leader in the civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968. King is best known for advancing civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience.
“I Have a Dream" is a public speech delivered by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the March on Washington for jobs and Freedom on August 28,1963, in which he called for civil and economic rights and an end to racism within the United States. Today we celebrate him and his fight, observe, and honor his legacy. To show our appreciation, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee asked the Office of Residential Life and Student Conduct and Community Standards to recite his Iconic “I Have a Dream” speech!
