COVID-19 Update: Dining, Visitors, and Testing Reminders

By Dan DeCaria, January 19, 2021

Welcome back IC! As you probably know, there are many COVID-19 protocols to get used to on campus this semester! We are #ICInThisTogether so please take a minute to read the COVID-19 Updates that will be posted in this space each Wednesday to see how you can contribute to keeping our Bomber Bubble strong.

Dine Smart

Since you must remove your face covering to eat, you are potentially exposing yourself and others if eating together. If possible, please make an effort to eat alone or limit who you share meals with to only with members of your household (including your roommate).

If you are eating in a designated dining area on campus, please pay attention to all signage and how seating is arranged. Please do not rearrange chairs or tables into larger groups. Stop the spread by wearing your face covering as soon as you finish eating.

Keep Family and Friends Off Campus

We are a friendly bunch and are used to having family members and non-Ithaca College friends on campus to walk dogs, use the facilities, visit, or join us for lunch. Unfortunately, this is something not permitted this spring semester. The presence of outside visitors significantly compromises our Bomber Bubble, so family and friends must remain off campus. If you have a vendor or contractor that must come, make sure you’re following the Campus Visitor Registration process.

Take Time to Spit

Frequent testing for the SARS-CoV-2 virus will help us identify holes in our Bomber Bubble. Yes, spitting may feel undignified, but it works! If we all commit to doing it as required, we can quickly contain any viral invaders and have a successful spring semester. Look for the blue locked collection bins across campus to drop off your sample before 11:30 am Monday through Friday, and to pick up your next saliva self-collection kit in the clear bins also located nearby. If you need a private place to provide your sample on campus, head over to Terrace 13.

**Super Important**

Please make sure that you fill out the label on your collection vial (Tube #1) with your name, birthdate, and date you collect your sample AND scan the QR code, which will redirect you to the CHS website where you must respond to all questions until you receive your registration code. Without completing both of these steps, Cayuga Health System will be unable to process your sample.

All residential, off-campus, and commuter students – you must provide a saliva sample twice weekly, even if your coursework is remote. Please select either a Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday pattern to drop off your sample. Have it in a bin before 11:30 am.

Employees – you must complete the Daily Health Screening and Testing Registration Form on IC Workflow to designate your testing frequency. Please pick a day that you can drop off your sample consistently, Monday through Friday before 11:30 am.
