The First-Year Leadership Series Begins on February 4th!

Join us on Thursdays at 2:35pm ET and Mondays at 12pm ET throughout February, beginning February 4th! We will engage with many topics that will explore what leadership means to you. The first year of college is an important time to understand who you are. As you work to find your way in this new stage of life, having an ability to lead is vital. This series will equip you with the tools to make changes within yourself to become a better leader.  Check out all the information about the series and find links to RSVP to one or more sessions here.  Please RSVP at least 24 hours ahead of the session start time.

  • Spark Your Leadership Skills @ IC - Thursday, February 4th at 2:35pm ET.  As a kickoff to the First-Year Leadership Series, join this session to learn some of the basics about leadership skills and how to be a leader at Ithaca College. We will focus on servant leadership, among other models of leadership, and discuss some of the key leadership competencies you might want to develop in college.
  • You Can Get Paid for That: Student Employment Opportunities Panel - Monday, February 8th at 12pm ET.  Join this session to learn about various student employment opportunities on campus. In addition to providing paid employment, these positions also offer great opportunities to expand and develop your leadership skills! Positions represented include Campus Center Operations Managers, Resident Assistants, Student Leadership Consultants, and IDEAS Peer Educators. Part of the First-Year Leadership Series.
  • More Than Just a History Month - Thursday, February 11th at 2:35pm ET.  Join us to discuss the origins of Black History Month. We will delve into its purpose, power, and what we can do to move forward with the month in our own lives.
  • Orgs Putting Change in Motion - Monday, February 15th at 12pm ET.  Leaders have the power to influence change in their environment, especially through organizing around a common issue. Join us for this discussion panel to learn how student organizations have advocated for change on issues spanning from climate justice and racial equality to sexual assault awareness and more.
  • Swiping Safely in 2021 - Thursday, February 18th at 2:35pm ET.  We will be discussing creating a safe online dating scene for the Ithaca College campus. We will discuss consent and explore resources that you have as a student interested in online love. 
  • Service Beyond South Hill - Monday, February 22nd at 12pm ET.  During your time at Ithaca College, not only are you a member of the campus community, you are a member of the greater Ithaca community. Extend your leadership off campus by getting involved in the many community organizations in the Ithaca area. Join us for this panel discussion to learn about some of these different organizations and how you can get involved! 
  • Launching Into Leadership: Becoming the Leader You Want to Be - Thursday, February 25th at 2:35pm ET.  To close out the First-Year Leadership Series, join us to set up your goals to launch your leadership journey. Everyone demonstrates leadership differently - let's envision how you can be a leader in your own right!
