Recognizing Essential Women - you can participate!

By Mish Lenhart, March 1, 2021

Do you have women in your life who have been essential to your personal growth? This is your chance to recognize them as part of a special event to wrap up the 2021 Women Leaders Series at Ithaca College.

According to a New York Times analysis of census data crossed with the federal government’s essential worker guidelines, one in three jobs held by women has been designated as essential. Women of color are more likely to be doing essential jobs than anyone else.

Fill out this form to recognize a woman who is essential in your life. Essential can defined any way that is meaningful to you. We hope you consider recognizing women who work in health care, education, retail, social services, domestic roles, trades, and other fields that have been traditionally underpaid and undervalued and who help take care of those most in need.

We will be making each submission into a 9x12 poster to be displayed outside, on campus on March 29, 2021. The display will stay up for three days so that folks on campus can peruse, learn, and appreciate in an outdoor, socially distant setting. There will also be an online recognition, so that people who are not in Ithaca can see the display. We are collecting submissions from March 1 to March 21, 2021. Anyone with an Ithaca.edu email address is invited to participate!
