A Park Conversation dubbed "The After Panel" has been scheduled for Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 7:15 p.m. The conversation is hosted by Ithaca College Students engaged in development, competition and broadcasting activities in gaming and/or Esports and follows a formal webinar hosted by Alumni Affairs featuring IC alumni.

Development

Xing Ke Elrick IC'21 is leading a team in game development as an internship during the Spring 2021 term through Park Professional Development. Alex Estabrook an instructor in the Park School serves as her faculty advisor in this initiative.

  • Xing Ke is a graduating senior at Ithaca College, and the executive producer of a dating sim called “Pavonia Paranormal.” They have a long history in video game analysis and creative development both visual and narrative. They are overjoyed to be leading a production team for the first time in video game development.
  • Sarah Gleason is the writing and story editor for “Pavonia Paranormal.” She graduated Saint Anselm College in 2020 with a degree in English and minors in French and Studio Art. She likes watching Buzzfeed Unsolved and going for walks in the woods with her dog, Tucker. She is thrilled to be a part of bringing this spooky game to life.
  • Jay Johnston is an Art History student at Virginia Commonwealth University Arts. They have been interested in video game concept art and character design since high school, and has been studying art even longer. Jay is currently working on the character sprites for “Pavonia Paranormal.”
  • Bee Stepp is an independent musician from Richmond, Virginia. She's been involved in music from a young age and has been producing music digitally since 2012. Bee has self-released five albums and EPs under the name Earthcradle. Her latest release, "Keyhole", is an industrial noise album about the American surveillance industry. Bee has also collaborated with The Seattle Garages, an independent band associated with the absurdist browser-based game "Blaseball"
  • Eddie Jovinelly is a senior at Ithaca College Writing for TV, Film, and Emerging Media major originally from Philadelphia. In their interest in computer science started in high school and continued into college where they ended just short of a minor. Eddie is generally more versed in writing action games and comedy TV, but is excited to be helping on “Pavonia Paranormal." 
  • Priya Dandamudi is a third year student at the University of Michigan dual majoring in Computer Science and Film, Television, & Media. Working on “Pavonia Paranormal” combined their interests in coding and storytelling through the medium of visual novels. Their academic background includes the languages C/C++, Python, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript and templates/frameworks like Flask, React, Jinja and Bootstrap, so working on this game has helped them dive into the Ren'py language. In their spare time, Priya enjoys reading, sketching, screenwriting, and community advocacy.
  • Mads Hotchko a student at the Art Institute of Chicago is an evil scientist that likes arachnids, specifically vinegaroons. Tattoo artist, game designer, illustrator, multidisciplinary artist, Texan. Likes to make bread and code for the Commodore 64.

Competition / Jay Bradley IC'22 and Ross Doane IC'21

Esport competitions offer a fun and constructive alternative to traditional sports leagues. Through community Esports, the IC club is promoting healthy competition, creativity, and social engagement with peers who share a love of gaming!

Ross Doane is a senior cinema and photography major with a minor in computer science. He is one of the co-founders and the president of the Ithaca Esports Club. He has over three years of experience in managing competitive esports teams.

Broadcasting / Mary Turner IC'22 

Esports broadcasting and production involves the broadcasting of video gaming tournaments or competitions. Video game esports events can be both spliced together from dozens or even hundreds of locations around the world, while more major events bring gamers to a central location complete with complex console setups.
