We Two Alone, a short story collection by Jack Wang, associate professor in the Department of Writing, has been shortlisted for the Danuta Gleed Literary Award for best debut collection from the Writers' Union of Canada and the Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize for best debut author in literary fiction.
Set on five continents and spanning nearly a century, We Two Alone traces the arc and evolution of the Chinese diaspora. In their citation, the judges for the Danuta Gleed Literary Award describe We Two Alone as "a compassionate work by a profoundly talented writer who cares deeply about what it means to be human in turbulent times."
The winner of the Danuta Gleed Literary Award will be announced on May 27, while the winner of the Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize will be announced on June 22. The winner of each prize receives $10,000 CAD.
We Two Alone will be released in the US, UK, and Australia/New Zealand on June 1, 2021 and can be pre-ordered through Buffalo Street Books.
