Please let IT know if legitimate Ithaca.edu email messages are ending up inrecipients’ spam folders

By Jason Youngers, June 9, 2021

If your department uses a third-party service to send mail from ithaca.edu addresses and haven't coordinated with IT to add that service provider as an authorized ithaca.edu sender, and you run into issues with your legitimate messages going to recipients' spam folders, please reach out to the IT Service Desk to let us know. Once we know about the services, we will likely be able to resolve any issues quickly.

IT has worked with various departments to identify email service providers that are in use at IC, and have added Microsoft, Qualtrics, MailChimp, Oracle, Canvas, and several others to our advertised list of known mail services, but it's likely we don't know about all the services in use.

Additional protections that IT and other organizations are putting in place to reduce email spam and phishing will make it somewhat more likely that a small portion of legitimate Ithaca.edu email messages may be detected as spam, both at IC and elsewhere if the message is sent via a third-party that is not listed in our known mail services list affiliating them with Ithaca College.
