Ithaca College gallery director Mara Baldwin has been awarded a residency at the Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency from August 14-21, 2021, to focus on new creative work and research for upcoming projects.

The Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency (EMAR) program by Collar Works is designed to provide a diverse group of emerging and established artists an immersive, supportive, productive, and communal atmosphere for art-making and dialogue on a bucolic 77-acre farm in Washington County on the estate of the late prolific American painter, Elizabeth Murray. A recipient of funding from the Sustainable Arts Foundation, the residency specifically supports parent artists by providing space, time, childcare, and financial support to create new work during their stay.

Recipients were selected from a competitive pool of applicants, with grants awarded to just 4 artists and their families in Summer 2021. Baldwin and her partner, Sarah Hennies, will both be working on independent projects and a new collaboration hosted by the Shaker Heritage Society in Albany, NY.
