It's Bisexual+ Awareness Week! The goal of #BiWeek is to accelerate acceptance of bi+ (bisexual, pansexual, fluid, no label, queer, and more) communities.
#BiWeek provides opportunities to elevate bi+ experiences, and raise awareness of the issues facing bi+ communities. The week culminates with the observance of Bi+ Visibility Day on September 23rd.
Did you know that in the US:
- one of the first public declarations of the bisexual movement and the first statement on bisexuality by any religious or political group in history happened right here in Ithaca NY
- more than half of the LGBTQ+ community identifies as Bi+
- 40 percent of LGBTQ+ people of color identify as bisexual.
- there are more people who identify as Bi+ than lesbian and gay people combined
- about 72 percent of Gen Z LGBTQ+ people identify as bisexual, pansexual, or queer
