Dr. Prakash Kashwan and Dr. Jake Brenner (ENVS) in Conversation about Climate Justice
Dr. Prakash Kashwan and Dr. Jake Brenner (Environmental Studies and Sciences) will be in conversation discussing climate justice on Tuesday, Oct 26 at 6 pm via Zoom. The session will be in meeting rather than webinar format to facilitate interaction with participants.
Dr. Kashwan will be on campus Tuesday, Oct 26, interacting with students and faculty.
A prolific scholar-activist in the fields of climate and environmental justice, Dr. Kashwan is Associate Professor of Political Science and Codirector of the Research Program on Economic and Social Rights, Human Rights Institute, University of Connecticut, Storrs.
His interests range across human rights, environmental justice, South Asia in world politics, climate justice, geoengineering, tree-planting, forest and water conservation, power dynamics, collective action, the commons, and youth activism.
His scholarship has been published in top-ranking journals in the fields of environmental politics, environmental policy, and international development, including Global Environmental Politics, Environmental Politics, Ecological Economics, Bioscience, Case Studies in the Environment, Earth System Governance, Regional Environmental Change, Land Use Policy, Journal of Environmental Management, International Journal of the Commons, Journal of Theoretical Politics, Sustainability, Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability, and World Development. He has also contributed popular commentaries to The Conversation, The Guardian, Al-Jazeera, and the Washington Post.
He is author of the acclaimed book Democracy in the Woods: Environmental Conservation and Social Justice in India, Tanzania, and Mexico (Oxford University Press, 2017) and a coeditor of the journal Environmental Politics.
