Moment of Reflection for Tom Fine

By Jennifer King MacKenzie, October 6, 2021

The men's and women's track and field teams will be holding a Moment of Reflection for Tom Fine on Monday October 11, 2021, at 8:00 PM in the Athletic and Events Center Arena.

We wish to celebrate Tom's life and what he meant to each of us. This program is open to all athletes and the campus community and should run about 30 - 45 minutes.

Upon arrival into the Athletic and Events Center arena we ask that individuals, if they desire, pick up from one of the various tables a white paper bag and marker to write their thoughts about Tom and/or others who have passed. We will have electric tea lights to place in the bags after any added inscriptions are complete. We then ask that you place the bags somewhere around the track.

We are planning on having a few students and staff speak about Tom, about how he has brought a difficult subject to light, and about moving forward. Women's Cross Country Coach Erin Dinan Frahm's father, Bob Dinan Jr. MSW, LCSW-R, will also speak.

Brian Petersen, PsyD, Psychologist, Director Ithaca College Counseling & Psychological Services, along with along with a representative from the Greater Central NY Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will be present and available for any questions or concerns.

When the short presentations are done, everyone will be asked to walk a lap or two in silence then head out the door.

We will have tables available with literature and resources that all may access about suicide prevention and awareness.

We hope to see you there!
