Sophomore Experience Survey

By Elizabeth Bleicher, October 6, 2021

Second-year students, use your voices!

The IC Student Success Team is creating a series of short surveys to solicit student voices throughout the year, and (eventually) throughout a student’s time at Ithaca College.  Research has shown that mini surveys are effective tools for improving the student experience. These brief checks are intended to take the campus pulse, learn more about the student experience, and support students in living their best college life.

One of these mini-surveys will be sent to second-year students in the coming week. While IC has long conducted an early survey for incoming students, this survey is unique in attempting to identify areas of support needed by our sophomores, some of whom are on campus for the first time.

  • Students can ask a member of the student success team to contact them about their responses.
  • We commit to respecting not just student choice, but privacy. While this survey is not anonymous, the only people who will have access to see all responses connected to a student’s name are the director of Student Success and one professional data analyst.
  • If a student indicates they would like to be contacted about their responses, the director may connect them with an appropriate resource who will not be able to see a student’s full survey results.
  • We also commit to sharing the trends we discover with students, along with the actions we are taking to maximize IC’s benefits and optimize the student experience.

Over the course of this year, look for messages from us about subsequent mini surveys, and email when you have ideas, fan mail or victories to share, or need to be connected to campus resources.

Here to help and to celebrate your successes,

Prof. Elizabeth Bleicher, Interim Director of Student Success

on behalf of the Student Success Team
