Dr. Patricia Zimmermann, Charles A. Dana Professor of Screen Studies and Director of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, has been appointed to the Academic Advisory Board for the Centre for Screen Cultures, University of St. Andrews, Scotland.

The board is made up of an interdisciplinary international group of academics and film practitioners and plays an important role in providing expertise and oversight of the Centre’s activities, ranging from undergraduate and graduate degrees, special programming, and research symposia.  The Centre engages with a multiplicity of Screen Cultures from across the globe and also across film, video, new media, installation, audio/sound, and interactive media.

The Centre is now in year two of a three-year focus on sound in relation to screen media, through public-facing events which bring practitioners into conversation with academics. In year one, they explored ‘the Mediated Voice’, in year two the Centre will be attending to ‘Sound and the Environment’, and in our final year, it will focus on the theme of ‘Sounding Bodies’.

The Centre’s activities are designed to engage a variety of people with different areas of research, always with an intention to connect a wider public to creative practice and academic work.
