Praneeta Mudaliar (ENVS) published an article titled, "Theorizing Polycentricity for the Global South and the South within the North" for the Polycentricity Network, Universität Kassel, Germany. In this article, Praneeta argues for the need to refine the concept of polycentric governance to better understand why the benefits predicted by theory are not actualized in the global South and the "South within the North." Praneeta suggests that this may not mean that polycentric systems of the Global South and the "South within the North" are incapable of being functional, but their nature and functionality may be different. These differences have not yet been theorized because most of the scholarly output focuses on case studies from the global North. There is, therefore, a need to develop a theory that is more representative of contexts outside of the global North. Praneeta was invited to submit this article to the Polycentricity Network.
