Student Compensation Structure Changes for 2022

By Kimberly Lieb, November 4, 2021

The New York State Department of Labor has announced incremental minimum wage increases annually until the minimum wage is $15.00 across New York State. Effective December 31, 2021, New York State minimum wage will increase to $13.20 from $12.50 per hour.

In accordance with this new minimum wage, the Ithaca College Student Salary Structure has been updated. This update will result in the adjustment of hourly rates for many of our student employees in each job level at IC. Adjustments will take effect on December 31, 2021, and no action will need to be taken by student supervisors or hiring departments. All students hired after December 31st will need to be hired in accordance with the 2022 IC Student Salary Structure. Additional information regarding Spring 2021 Student Employment recruitment is forthcoming.

The Office of Human Resources will work with supervisors to determine if the changes in the student salary structure will result in equity and/or compression issues for staff and will address those accordingly.
