It is with great sadness that I am posting this message to make the campus community aware of the death of Terri Hradisky, who served as an administrative assistant in the Center for Counseling, Health, and Wellness. Terri died unexpectedly on Wednesday after a brief illness.
Terri was a very special colleague to all of the Counseling, Health, and Wellness staff. She worked at Ithaca College for almost three decades, starting in 1993, and was a vital part of the Hammond Health Center for most of those years, serving under six different Medical Directors in that time.
Terri was a person of many talents. She was very dedicated and organized and always willing to help identify opportunities for improvements in our operations, and she made her tasks so seamless. She helped countless students making needed referrals to off-campus specialists.
She really stepped up during the pandemic to support our students and the college. She often was up early checking emails and faxes and checking in on the weekends as well. Our successful Spring 2021 pre-arrival testing process and in-person May Commencement ceremony were in part due to Terri’s hard work.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her husband, Joe, sons Alec and Ian, and her extended family.
We will be holding a virtual community gathering at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, to celebrate Terri’s life. You can join via this Zoom link.
There will be a counselor from the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at the Health Center conference room on Friday for employees who may find it helpful to speak with someone during this time of grief. Faculty and staff can always access EAP counseling services by calling 1-800-327-2255.
Students needing support should reach out to the Counseling Center to schedule an appointment at 607-274-3177 or to arrange for a same-day appointment during crisis hours Monday through Friday, 2:00-4:00 p.m. each day.
Students in distress needing immediate assistance should contact the Office of Public Safety at 607-274-3333 or the on-duty residential life staff.
The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life also has a website dedicated to grief resources.
Terri had a great sense of humor, and she cared deeply for her colleagues and our students. Her hard work has helped our Health Center be successful, but most importantly her friendship has helped us all be better people. Her IC family will really miss her!
With deepest condolences to Terri’s family, friends, and colleagues,
Ellyn Sellers-Selin, M.D.
