Create a poster for the Library

By Catherine Michael, January 20, 2022

The library would like to promote mask wearing. We could use your help! Design a poster that encourages mask wearing in the library and/or on campus.

Who:  All students at IC who are willing to volunteer their time and creative work to improve the library environment.

What:  Create a poster for the library!

Where: After a review, we’ll hang them in the building, on social media, and possibly adapt designs for buttons.

When:  Anytime. This is an ongoing call for participation through the end of the Spring semester.

Why:   The library has received complaints about students not complying with mask-wearing.  We want to create an environment that encourages compliance through the use of graphic arts.

How:  There are no specified text or images required.  The goal is to gently encourage others to properly wear their masks while in the library (there is the exception of the library café -- masks can be removed while eating or drinking in the café).  This could include advice on how to properly wear your mask.

Submit your 8.5x11 PDF to the library in one of the following ways:

  • Email Cathy Michael:  cmichael@ithaca.edu with the Heading: LIBRARY POSTER

  • Drop a print-out of your poster into a labelled box at the Circulation Desk

Permissions:  By submitting your design, you permit Ithaca College Library to copy, distribute and share your design.  In addition to hanging copies in the library, designs may be adapted for buttons, posted to social media accounts, or added to the library’s COVID-19 Archive.

Benefits:  Gratitude from the library and your peers!  Know that your poster may encourage someone to mask up and even save a life.  Posters can be added to your portfolio of work as a student.
