Kevin Perry, Associate Director for NSTP, to depart from Ithaca College

Shared on behalf of Jacqueline Winslow, Ed.D., Director of New Student & Transition Programs

Anyone who has already heard this news has emphatically shared “great for Kevin, sad for IC!” Kevin’s last day at IC will be Tuesday, February 1st. Soon after, he will head to the “other hill” joining Cornell’s campus as the Director of the Tatkon Center for New Students. I am thrilled that Kevin will continue to do what he’s most passionate about – helping new students transition into college and leading a college community in that mission.

As so many know, Kevin has provided exceptional leadership to Ithaca College’s orientation program. For the past four years, Kevin served as the inaugural Associate Director for NSTP. Before the development of the NSTP office, Kevin worked for two years as the Assistant Director of First-Year Experience in the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs. Kevin’s first role at IC was within Residence Life as a Residence Director in the Terraces. In all, Kevin has dedicated seven exceptional years to the IC community.

In his current role, Kevin led the transition of our orientation program from a summer program to a Fall program, reinvented the program again (and again) when needs shifted during a global pandemic requiring social distancing and contact tracing, trained and mentored hundreds of student leaders – key mentors for our new students, and introduced pronoun sharing and pronoun pins into the Orientation program. Beyond orientation, Kevin served on too many campus committees to name – his impact is both broad and profound and I'm positive his legacy of leadership will live on.

We will share an update as soon as the plan for coverage for this role is confirmed. In the meantime, please email nstp@ithaca.edu so that our team can efficiently reply to inquiries. We also want to gather to recognize the incredible contributions Kevin has made to IC – we will be in touch soon with information regarding a celebration. We hope to come together on Tuesday, February 1st from 4:00 – 5:00. Location TBD. In the meantime, please do reach out to Kevin to wish him well!
